The Speaker of Parliament, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, has announced that, based on legal advice, the new determination issued by Parliament in May overrides the 2020 Determination, as stipulated in Section 11 of the Parliamentary Remuneration Act 2014. During a parliamentary session, Ratu Naiqama stated that the 2020 Determination has been officially revoked, and the new 2024 Determination confirms that current salaries for Members of Parliament will be set at 100 percent, effective from August 2024. He emphasized that all Members of Parliament are now receiving salaries at this established rate.
