Parliamentary Apologies: A Call for Decorum Amidst Unruly Exchanges

The Minister for Sugar, Charan Jeath Singh, issued an apology to the House regarding his inappropriate conduct and language during his Ministerial Statement the previous Tuesday. He stated, “I would like to apologise to the House for any language or inappropriate comments I may have used that may have offended any individual Member.”

Additionally, Opposition MP Praveen Bala also apologized under the same Standing Order if he had offended anyone with his remarks.

Speaker of Parliament Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu emphasized the importance of maintaining decorum within the Chamber, urging the Members to remain composed. He remarked, “It seems you can quickly shift from being calm to losing your temper. Perhaps you have been preoccupied with personal matters.”

Ratu Naiqama also reminded the Members to keep in mind the public and children who watch the sessions either on television or from the gallery.
