The Speaker of Parliament, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, has announced that the nominations for the appointment of Fiji’s President and the acknowledgment of the President’s appointment will not be addressed during today’s session. These agenda items are listed as numbers four and five on the Order Paper.

During the session, Ratu Naiqama explained that these matters will be postponed to a later date. This decision follows communications received by the Office of the Speaker regarding maintenance work by the Water Authority of Fiji, which is scheduled to begin at midnight tonight.

The Speaker noted that the only urgent item on tomorrow’s Order Paper pertains to a Bill from the Prime Minister, which he intends to introduce. Ratu Naiqama indicated that they plan to discuss the Prime Minister’s motion today.

He also mentioned that tomorrow’s session of Parliament will be suspended due to anticipated water cuts affecting residents in the Suva – Nausori corridor. Both the Government and the Opposition expressed no objection to the motion for the suspension. Ratu Naiqama stated that he will seek further advice on the situation.
