Plans are underway to upgrade municipal facilities and enhance Lions Park with beautification projects and improved public services. Special administrator Samuela Ligairi emphasized the aim to transform the park into a vibrant hub for activities, allowing residents and visitors to relax and enjoy their leisure time.
Ligairi noted the importance of understanding the facilities that residents need, announcing plans to install benches throughout the park for public comfort. This year, the council has already initiated several community service projects, including the installation of more than 20 benches in strategic locations across the town.
“We are committed to providing the best service to our people,” Ligairi stated. However, he also highlighted the responsibility that residents have in maintaining these facilities, underscoring the need for proper waste disposal to prevent littering. In response to littering concerns, several closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras have been set up in town to monitor offenders.
Ligairi encouraged local businesses to engage in council-led clean-up efforts and to organize their own monthly clean-up initiatives. “This will improve the cleanliness of the township and attract more visitors,” he added.
