Parents Unite: A Call to Protect Our Future from Drugs

Spread the love

The collective initiative to address the drug issue has taken a significant turn with government ministers emphasizing the importance of parental involvement. This call to action focuses on the vital role that parents and guardians play in safeguarding children from the devastating impacts of drug abuse.

Justice Minister Siromi Turaga highlighted the importance of making informed choices, reminding children that these decisions can have long-lasting consequences on their health, education, and overall well-being. He encouraged young individuals to think carefully before acting and to seek advice from trusted adults.

Furthermore, Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs Lenora Qereqeretabua stressed the need for parents to prioritize their time with children over other commitments, such as social events or social media usage. She remarked, “Our children are our present and our future, they deserve our attention.”

Minister for Youth and Sports Jese Saukuru echoed similar sentiments, urging families to engage meaningfully with their children, emphasizing the importance of quality time, dialogue, and attentiveness. This shared vision was reinforced by Great Council of Chiefs chairman Ratu Viliame Seruvakula, who posited that everyone must collaborate to raise and protect the younger generations to ensure their success.

There is a pressing need for renewed focus on the needs of our children, as many are currently facing neglect and a lack of guidance. Parents and guardians must step up to provide the reassurance, protection, and attention that children require to thrive.

As the new school year approaches, there remains a collective responsibility to create a supportive environment for children. This can be an opportunity for communities to rally together and reflect on how they can positively impact the lives of young people.

In conclusion, this initiative shines a hopeful light on the importance of nurturing children as they prepare for their futures. It’s a reminder that with consistent dedication from parents, guardians, and society as a whole, we can cultivate a brighter era for the next generation, fostering a safe and supportive atmosphere where they can flourish.
