Panthers Set to Roar Back in Vodafone Cup Quarterfinals

The Dee Cees Nadera Panthers aim to cultivate their players for opportunities in overseas rugby league clubs. This was highlighted by Panthers manager Rodney Nair in a recent interview with SUNsports.

Nair stated, “We don’t retain our players once they secure positions with rugby league clubs abroad.” He emphasized that the current season features a revamped team.

The manager mentioned that they faced challenges this season as many of their players typically play rugby union, which required a strategic adjustment. “Our coach Vula Dakuitoga had a tough time bringing players together and developing them to this level,” he noted, praising Dakuitoga as one of Fiji’s most successful rugby league coaches.

Despite the hurdles, the Panthers have advanced to the Vodafone Cup national quarterfinals, where they will compete against the newly introduced Waitaci Titans. “Our goal is to perform at our best and reclaim our lost title. We believe in our capabilities, understanding the intensity of the situation,” said Nair.

He expressed confidence that the players would secure a victory against the Titans at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka. “The coach has faith in the team due to their positive attitude towards their diet and training regimen,” he added.

Nair encouraged Nadera rugby league supporters to come out and witness the Panthers aim for a milestone in the Fiji National Rugby League Vodafone Cup. Additionally, he mentioned that four players have left the club to join the Fiji Police Force and Fiji Navy.
