The Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) Program and the New Zealand Recognised Seasonal Employer (RSE) Work Scheme are currently not accepting new applications, and this situation will continue until further notice. The Ministry of Employment, Productivity and Workplace Relations had previously indicated that applications would resume on January 1, 2025.
According to PS Maritino Nemani, the Ministry is currently focused on addressing the existing backlog of applications to ensure all current applicants are processed effectively. Understanding the significance of these labor mobility programs for the Fijian community, the Ministry is committed to resuming new client registrations as soon as they can.
The Ministry will keep the public informed about any developments regarding the suspension of applications through media updates.
This development highlights the ongoing challenges faced by labor mobility initiatives, but it also reflects the commitment of the Ministry to support existing applicants. While it may be disappointing for those looking to apply, the focus on efficient processing can ultimately lead to a more streamlined system in the future.
