Pacific Voices Unite: The New Labour Platform Emerges

The Blue Pacific Big Ocean States (BPBOS) Labour Platform aims to enhance the visibility and representation of Pacific nations at the International Labour Conference and the Asia Pacific Group Platform, according to Minister for Employment Agni Deo Singh.

Mr. Singh emphasized that BPBOS is essential for consolidating the Pacific region’s stance on labor and employment matters, as well as issues under the International Labour Organization (ILO).

He highlighted the significance of establishing a unified voice within the Pacific regarding international issues, particularly concerning decent work, labor, employment, and climate change, as discussed by labor ministers during the last Pacific Tripartite High-Level Forum in 2019.

To further the objectives of the BPBOS labour platform, a successful two-day meeting took place from August 26 to August 27 in New Zealand, where participants reviewed the draft Terms of Reference (TOR) for the labour ministers’ platform. The meeting resulted in the completion of the draft TOR review.
