The Blue Pacific Big Ocean States (BPBOS) Labour Platform aims to enhance the visibility and representation of the Pacific region at the International Labour Conference and the Asia Pacific Group Platform, as stated by Employment Minister Agni Deo Singh.
Mr. Singh highlighted that the BPBOS is crucial for unifying the Pacific on labour and employment matters, alongside issues pertaining to the International Labour Organization (ILO). He noted that during the Pacific Tripartite High-Level Forum in 2019, labour ministers emphasized the need for a cohesive voice for the Pacific at international forums, particularly concerning decent work, labour, employment, and climate change.
To further the objectives of the BPBOS platform, a successful two-day meeting was conducted in New Zealand from August 26 to 27, focusing on reviewing the draft Terms of Reference (TOR) for the ministerial platform. The meeting culminated in the completion of this review.
