Pacific Polytech is obligated to provide detailed reports on all government grants utilized by the institution, along with audits of its accounts, which have been found to be satisfactory and free of any issues, according to Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro during a parliamentary session.
Radrodro responded to a written inquiry regarding an assessment of the $2 million grant awarded to Pacific Polytech. He noted that, as with all institutions under the Higher Education Commission of Fiji (HECF), Pacific Polytech must submit quarterly spending reports to HECF for any grant funds released. Only after HECF is satisfied with these financial reports will it authorize the disbursement of the next quarter’s grant.
The Minister emphasized that submission of audited financial statements is a mandatory requirement for the institutions. Pacific Polytech has reportedly submitted financial statements for all years in which it received government grants, and these audits have been confirmed as clean, raising no concerns.
Additionally, the HECF oversees programs funded by government grants, ensuring that no institution can offer unapproved programs. Radrodro stated that all award programs at Pacific Polytech have undergone rigorous examination and have received the necessary approval from the Higher Education Commission of Fiji.
