Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka arrived in Tonga yesterday in anticipation of the 53rd Pacific Island Forum Leaders Meeting. Upon his arrival, he was welcomed with a traditional ceremony by the Fijian community at the St Paul’s Anglican Hall in Nuku’alofa.
The official opening of the meeting is set for tomorrow, where leaders from 18 Pacific nations are expected to convene. The theme for this year’s forum is “Transformative Resilient Pasifiki: Build Better Now,” and it will be chaired by Tonga’s Prime Minister, Hu’akavemeiliku Siaosi Sovaleni.
The gathering will provide a platform for leaders to tackle urgent issues and challenges confronting the Blue Pacific Continent, promoting cooperation and collaboration towards common objectives. The meeting is scheduled to conclude on August 30.
