Pacific Leaders Unite: A New Era Begins in Tonga

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka arrived in Tonga yesterday in preparation for the upcoming 53rd Pacific Island Forum Leaders Meeting. Upon his arrival, Mr. Rabuka was honored with a traditional welcoming ceremony by the Fijian community at St Paul’s Anglican Hall in Nuku’alofa.

The official opening ceremony of the meeting is scheduled for tomorrow, with participation expected from leaders of 18 Pacific nations across the region. This year’s meeting, themed “Transformative Resilient Pasifiki: Build Better Now,” will be chaired by Tonga’s Prime Minister Hu‘akavemeiliku Siaosi Sovaleni.

The forum will provide a platform for leaders to tackle crucial issues and challenges facing the Blue Pacific Continent, promoting collaboration and cooperation towards achieving common objectives. The meeting is set to conclude on August 30.
