Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka arrived in Tonga yesterday in preparation for the 53rd Pacific Island Forum Leaders Meeting. Upon his arrival, he received a traditional welcome from the Fijian community at St Paul’s Anglican Hall in Nuku’alofa.

The official opening ceremony is set for tomorrow, where leaders from 18 Pacific nations are expected to convene. This year’s meeting, themed “Transformative Resilient Pasifiki: Build Better Now,” will be chaired by Tonga’s Prime Minister Hu’akavemeiliku Siaosi Sovaleni.

The forum will provide a platform for leaders to tackle significant issues and challenges confronting the Blue Pacific Continent, promoting collaboration and cooperation toward shared objectives. The meeting is scheduled to conclude on August 30.
