Pacific Labour Platform Aims for Global Impact

The Blue Pacific Big Ocean States (BPBOS) Labour Platform aims to amplify the concerns and representation of the Pacific region at the International Labour Conference and within the Asia Pacific Group Platform, according to the Minister for Employment, Agni Deo Singh.

Mr. Singh emphasized that BPBOS is crucial for uniting the Pacific region under a collective identity regarding labour and employment matters and issues related to the International Labour Organization (ILO). He highlighted the call from labour ministers during the last Pacific Tripartite High-Level Forum in 2019 for a unified voice concerning international discussions on pressing matters such as decent work, labour and employment, and climate change.

To push forward the objectives of the BPBOS labour platform, a two-day meeting was convened in New Zealand from August 26 to 27 to assess the draft Terms of Reference (TOR) for the platform. The meeting was deemed successful, concluding with the review of the TOR draft.
