Home Affairs Minister Pio Tikoduadua has suggested the creation of an Oceanic Alliance for the Security of Island States, abbreviated as “OASIS.”
In his opening remarks at the Maritime Security Conference held this morning, Tikoduadua stated that this alliance would serve as a formal platform for Pacific Island States to collaboratively tackle various security challenges. These challenges include addressing transnational organized crime, responding to the impacts of climate change, and preventing illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing.
Further details on this development will be available in the 6 pm news bulletin.
