Authorities are investigating an individual whose harsh teaching methods aimed at helping two children learn to count have ignited widespread outrage. The situation escalated following the viral dissemination of a Facebook video that depicted a man aggressively instructing a young child, causing the child visible distress and tears.

A subsequent video allegedly showcasing the same individual applying similar abusive tactics on a toddler has also emerged. As of yesterday at 5 PM, the original video garnered significant attention with nearly 1,000 reactions, over 350 comments, and more than 60 shares, with some viewers shockingly defending the man’s actions.

Local police have confirmed that they are questioning the man depicted in the video regarding the alleged mistreatment and have initiated an ongoing investigation to uncover the full extent of the situation. The authorities are dedicated to securing justice for the affected child.

Sashi Kiran, the Minister for Women, Children, and Social Protection, has vocally condemned the incident and vowed to take stronger measures to safeguard children from violence. In her statement, she informed the public that her ministry is working in collaboration with law enforcement to thoroughly investigate the matter.

“The Ministry of Women, Children, and Social Protection is aware of a recent video circulating on social media depicting an incident of violence against very young children,” stated Ms. Kiran, emphasizing the urgency and seriousness of the investigation.

The shocking footage has raised alarming concerns regarding the rate of child abuse in Fiji, where recent statistics indicate that approximately 72 percent of children have experienced some form of violence, encompassing physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. Many of these incidents transpire within homes, schools, and community environments that should be safe and supportive for young ones.

Ms. Kiran has noted that certain violent parenting techniques, often stemming from a misguided ambition to educate, have regrettably become commonplace. “In their zeal for educating children, some parents resort to extreme methods,” she remarked, highlighting the long-lasting negative impacts on children’s development and learning.

To address these pressing issues, the minister emphasized the importance of educational initiatives designed to promote healthy parenting practices, especially among younger parents who may lack adequate support from extended family networks. “Our ministry is working on campaigns that educate parents about appropriate practices and the prevention of violence against children,” she stated firmly.

Ultimately, Ms. Kiran called upon families, community leaders, educators, and citizens to unite in creating safer environments for the children of Fiji. “Every child in Fiji has the right to grow up in a protective and nurturing environment, free from fear.”

This incident has opened up a vital conversation about child welfare and the need for social change, with the hope that through combined efforts, the cycle of abuse can be halted and a safer future for the youth can be established.

Summary: Authorities are investigating a man after videos showcasing his aggressive teaching methods went viral, causing distress in children. Minister Sashi Kiran has condemned the abuse and is collaborating with law enforcement to address the situation while urging community involvement to ensure safety for all children in Fiji.
