Opposition MP expresses frustration over parliamentary speaking time cuts

Independent Opposition Member of Parliament has voiced her frustration with the reduction of speaking time from 20 to 15 minutes and the shortening of Parliament sessions from two weeks to one.

Speaking in response to the 2024-2025 National Budget in Parliament, Kumar remarked that over the past 18 months, both speaking time and the number of speakers have been limited on important motions.

“This isn’t democracy, Mr. Speaker, Sir.”

“This House belongs to the people, and they deserve sufficient time for us to debate and scrutinize important issues affecting them,” she asserted.
