The OFC U-16 Women’s Championship will kick off tomorrow at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva, featuring eight teams from the Oceania region competing for two places in the upcoming FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco. This championship comes at a crucial time with the World Cup expanding to include 24 teams.
The tournament is divided into two groups: Group A includes Fiji, Tonga, Cook Islands, and Samoa, while Group B consists of New Zealand, New Caledonia, Tahiti, and Solomon Islands. The format leads to an exciting conclusion, with the first-placed team from Group A taking on the second-placed team from Group B, and vice versa, in the semi-finals scheduled for September 18.
The winners of these matches will not only secure their spots in the World Cup but will also compete for the title of OFC U-16 Women’s Championship in the final on September 21.
