Oceania Rugby Unveils Groundbreaking High-Performance Officiating Camp

Oceania Rugby has inaugurated its first-ever Match Official High-Performance Camp in Nadi, in partnership with World Rugby and with support from the Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade via the PacificAus Sports program. This pioneering initiative is designed to enhance officiating standards and improve skills throughout the Oceania region.

Richard Sapias, President of Oceania Rugby, remarked, “Launching this camp in Fiji highlights our dedication to nurturing match officials and fostering excellence in the sport.”

The camp includes a variety of intensive training sessions, workshops, and discussions, all facilitated by experienced referees and educators from World Rugby. This presents a valuable opportunity for match officials to refine their skills, stay updated on the latest developments in rugby officiating, and strengthen relationships within the community.

Frank Puletua, General Manager of Oceania Rugby, stressed the importance of the camp in improving the capabilities of local officials. “We are making considerable strides to advance our officials’ development and skills, striving for higher standards and competencies,” he stated.
