There have been multiple requests for the establishment of police posts within communities in the Northern Division. This follows widespread reports indicating that the issue of illicit drug use is affecting every village in the region. Northern Divisional Police Commander SSP Kemueli Baledrokadroka confirmed that sites for the construction of the police posts have already been leased.
Acting Police Commissioner Juki Fong Chew noted that the initiative hinges on the Government’s approval and financial support. “The Government must determine if there are sufficient funds to assist us,” he stated. Chew emphasized that the demand for more police posts is not only prevalent in Vanua Levu but across various locations in Fiji.
“There are specific plans in place to construct police posts in different regions, including Vanua Levu and other areas in Fiji,” he mentioned. In a recent interview, he highlighted the need for adequate manpower and resources in these locations. “This is part of our restructuring and reform program,” he added, affirming that the construction of police posts will proceed once funding becomes available.
