Surge operations conducted in the Northern Division have resulted in the arrest of multiple individuals suspected of illegally possessing illicit drugs. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, stated that these divisional surge initiatives receive significant support from specialized units, including the Police Mobile Force, Fiji Detector Dog Unit, and the Police Dog Unit.

Driu emphasized that disrupting the drug supply market is a key focus for law enforcement, involving various tactics such as farm raids, mop-up exercises, and targeting known distributors. He highlighted the importance of community cooperation, noting that the sharing of information has played a vital role in the successful execution of these drug raids.

During the recent surge operations, five men, aged between 20 and 30, were apprehended, and various items believed to be stolen were also confiscated. Investigations into these matters are ongoing.

This proactive approach to tackling the drug issue demonstrates a commitment to community safety and involves local support, which is encouraging. The continued collaboration between authorities and residents can foster a stronger collective effort against drug-related crime, ultimately promoting a healthier and safer society.

In summary, the ongoing surge operations in the Northern Division reflect a dedicated effort by the police to combat drug-related offenses and are backed by community involvement, which is essential for long-term success in addressing these challenges.
