Northern Communities Push for Police Posts Amid Rising Drug Concerns

Requests have been made for the establishment of police posts in communities across the Northern Division. This initiative arises from increasing concerns regarding the rampant issue of illicit drug use affecting various villages.

Northern Divisional Police Commander SSP Kemueli Baledrokadroka has confirmed that sites for building these police posts have been secured. However, Acting Police Commissioner Juki Fong Chew noted that the project is contingent upon government approval and funding.

Chew mentioned that the demand for police posts extends beyond Vanua Levu, involving multiple regions throughout Fiji. He highlighted that specific plans are underway for the construction of police posts across the country, emphasizing the need for additional manpower and resources in these areas.

“This is part of our restructuring and reform program,” he stated, mentioning that construction will commence once funding becomes available.
