An eastward-moving trough of low pressure will continue to bring clouds and rain to the northern and eastern islands today, while a high pressure system well to the south directs drier, cool west to southwest winds over most other parts of Fiji. Expect unsettled conditions across Macuata and Cakaudrove provinces—including Taveuni—and the northern and central Lau group for the remainder of the day, with rain gradually easing and clearing later on. Elsewhere the weather will be largely fine, though brief showers are possible and nights will be cool.
The heaviest and most persistent rain is forecast for the northern and eastern group where occasional rain and isolated thunderstorms with heavy falls are expected. Labasa, Savusavu and Taveuni are all likely to see showers today with conditions easing toward tomorrow and mainly fine weather returning. In the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, and around Kadavu, periods of brief showers are possible but the general trend is for fine conditions apart from those short interruptions.
Across the main island and western districts the outlook is mainly fine. Navua, Suva and Nausori are expected to be mainly fine with a maximum around 29°C and cool nights near 20°C. Nadi, Lautoka and Ba should stay fine with highs near 30°C and cooler nights. Sigatoka and the Coral Coast, as well as Tavua and Rakiraki, will also be mostly fine though brief showers may occur in some areas. Overall winds will be moderate from the southwest to northwest and will turn more southwest later today, with moderate seas offshore.
Looking ahead to Thursday, much of the group should remain fine apart from brief showers over parts of the east and some coastal districts including Navua–Suva–Nausori, Sigatoka–Korolevu and the Serua–Namosi–Rewa–Tailevu–Ra corridor, plus the Lau and Lomaiviti groups. It will remain cool overnight. Winds are expected to shift to moderate southerlies and seas should remain moderate.
Rotuma is noted to have an easterly wind flow prevailing with generally fine weather apart from brief showers today. The forecast indicates some showers with isolated thunderstorms tomorrow; winds are described as moderate westerlies and seas moderate. Residents and visitors in the northern and eastern areas should be prepared for heavy falls in isolated thunderstorms today and allow extra time for travel where showers occur.
