Josaia Niudamu has been officially appointed as the Assistant Minister for Justice and has expressed his commitment to supporting Minister Siromi Turaga in the implementation of ministerial frameworks throughout the remainder of the Coalition Government’s term leading up to the next election. Following his swearing-in ceremony at the State House, he shared his eagerness to serve the Fijian people and ensure justice is delivered to those in need.

“I feel good, and I would like to thank the honorable Prime Minister for the trust he has placed in me. I will dedicate myself to serving the Fijian people and our nation while upholding the values of justice,” stated Mr. Niudamu. He emphasized his intention to carry forward the government’s policies and assist Minister Turaga with any initiatives planned for the ministry.

Mr. Niudamu, a law graduate from the University of the South Pacific, brings over a decade of experience from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution to his new role, alongside his experience running his own legal practice, Niudamu Lawyers. His political journey began with the FijiFirst party, but he transitioned to support Prime Minister Siromi Turaga and the People’s Alliance, forming part of a group of nine members known as the Group of 9 (G9).

When asked about his future in politics, particularly regarding the upcoming elections, Mr. Niudamu indicated that he would consider running in due time, reaffirming the government’s dedication to enhancing services for the Fijian populace. He appreciates the community’s support and calls upon them to continue backing the government’s initiatives for a better Fiji.

In parallel, Minister Siromi Turaga recently highlighted the achievements of the People’s Alliance in a speech to residents in Cawa and discussed ongoing efforts to deliver services directly to the community. Turaga’s remarks, which draw attention to the party’s commitment to change and the recent investigations into past government actions, illustrate a broader narrative of accountability and community engagement that resonates with Mr. Niudamu’s pledges.

As the political landscape evolves, both Mr. Niudamu and Minister Turaga’s commitments to justice and community service offer a hopeful outlook on governance in Fiji, with a focus on serving the people’s needs and restoring faith in public institutions.
