“Nitin Gandhi Joins Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority Board: What’s Next?”

Nitin Gandhi’s track record at the securities exchange suggests more success as he takes on a new role at the Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority (FRCS).

During Gandhi’s chairmanship at the securities exchange, he oversaw significant milestones, including the early and full trading status for SUN Insurance.

Joining the FRCS board for a three-year term alongside Gandhi are former chief executive officer Jitoko Tikolevu, legal practitioner Nancy Tikoisuva, and economist Neelesh Gounder.

Tikoisuva is affiliated with Toganivalu Legal, and Gounder serves as a lecturer and Deputy Head of School (Research) at the University of the South Pacific’s School of Accounting Finance and Economics.

Gandhi, a chartered accountant and former managing partner at Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC), holds fellowships with the Australia and New Zealand Chartered Accountants and has previously led the Fiji Institute of Chartered Accountants. He is also an accredited mediator, former president of the Fiji Red Cross Society, and a member of the International Federation of Red Cross (IFRC) Audit and Risk Commission in Geneva.

With over 38 years of experience in assurance, taxation, and advisory services across various industries including tourism, aviation, energy, manufacturing, retail, agriculture, and financial services, Gandhi is well-equipped to address the challenges faced by the FRCS in its reforms and administration.

“There is a need to embrace globalisation and digitalisation to ensure Fiji Revenue and Customs Service serves its customer base in the most efficient and fairest way,” Gandhi said. “Modernising tax compliance and developing systems accordingly would be key to the economic development of the country.”

FRCS’s chief executive officer Udit Singh expressed confidence that the diverse talent and expertise of the new board members would help the authority in its quest to become a world-class service provider.

Tikolevu, who served as Fiji’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom from 2016 to 2023, previously held the role of chief executive officer at FRCS from 2007 to 2015 and was deputy board chairman of Fiji Development Bank (FDB) and Investment Fiji until December 2015.
