Lautoka snooker player Nitesh Chand has received a $500 sponsorship from Devendra Prasad, the Director of Viti Hygiene Solution, in preparation for the 2024 Fiji Open Snooker Championship. The tournament will take place from Thursday to Sunday at the South Seas Club, where Chand will compete against top players from both the local and international scenes.
Prasad, who has been a close friend of Chand for many years, stated that his choice to sponsor Chand was influenced by their long-standing friendship and his admiration for Chand’s abilities in the sport. “I have known Nitesh for a long time,” Prasad remarked.
Chand, who boasts 24 years of experience in snooker, expressed his gratitude for the sponsorship, recognizing the difficulty of finding individual sponsors in the sport. “It’s very hard to find individual sponsors, but I thank Dev for coming in to support me,” Chand mentioned.
At 41, Chand has represented Fiji in various snooker competitions throughout the Oceania region. This week, he will take on some of the finest players from both local and overseas backgrounds in this eagerly awaited championship.
