A bouncer implicated in a violent incident at a nightclub in Suva early yesterday morning has been detained by police. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, confirmed that authorities are actively apprehending several individuals connected to the event and are continuing their search for additional suspects.

Driu emphasized the importance of the public refraining from taking matters into their own hands, urging them to allow law enforcement to carry out their duties. “We ask that those expressing threats on social media remain calm,” he stated. “Emotions are running high, and we encourage everyone involved to stay composed. Taking action on your own will not lead to a resolution; it will only escalate the situation.”

A police team from Totogo Police Station has been dispatched to Namatakula Village to gather statements from those affected and eyewitnesses. Driu reiterated the need for cooperation from all parties to facilitate the investigation, advising patience as the police work through the details.

Furthermore, he mentioned that the police are closely monitoring social media activity to prevent any unlawful actions. Driu assured the public of the police’s commitment to maintaining safety as the New Year approaches.

This proactive approach by law enforcement highlights the need for community cooperation in dealing with such incidents. In fostering a sense of calm and vigilance, we can work towards a safer environment for everyone.

Overall, as the community navigates this challenging time, a collective commitment to peace and order is vital, emphasizing that positive outcomes emerge when collaboration and restraint prevail.
