A nightclub bouncer has been apprehended by police following a violent altercation in Suva in the early hours of yesterday. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACPO) Livai Driu confirmed that authorities are in the process of detaining others involved in the incident while seeking out additional individuals connected to the brawl.

Driu called upon the public to refrain from taking matters into their own hands, urging them to allow the police to handle the situation. “All those making threats on social media need to stay calm. Emotions are still high at the moment, and we are calling on parties involved to try and remain calm. Taking matters into your own hands won’t resolve anything, it will only make things worse,” he stated.

In an effort to gather information, a team of officers from the Totogo Police Station has been visiting Namatakula Village to interview those involved and gather witness statements. Driu emphasizes the importance of cooperation from all parties, urging them to provide evidence and statements while showing patience as the investigation unfolds.

Additionally, police will keep a close watch on social media activity to prevent any escalation of the situation. Driu reassured the community that, as the New Year approaches, the police will remain vigilant in ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.

This situation serves as a reminder for the community to come together and foster a peaceful resolution. By working with law enforcement, individuals can contribute to a safer environment for everyone, setting a positive tone for the upcoming year.
