The National Federation Party has re-elected its office bearers without opposition during its Annual General Meeting (AGM) held today at Nadroga Sangam School in Malaqereqere, Sigatoka. Parmod Chand has been reinstated as President, with Devendra Naidu, Kamala Lajendra, Ratu Esava Nabuta, Peter Saunivalu, Waisale Kanavu, and Vijay Rajnesh Prasad serving as Vice Presidents. Chandu Lodhia remains the Treasurer, while Kamal Iyer continues as General Secretary and Bimal Prasad takes on the role of Assistant General Secretary.
In front of a large audience, Chand expressed his appreciation for their ongoing support and emphasized that the party’s resilience over the past 61 years reflects its strong principles and commitment to national interests. He remarked, “The fact that the NFP is 61 years old speaks volumes about the party’s values. We have never abandoned our principles for political expediency. Our achievements are monumental and will continue for decades.”
Chand also noted the historical importance of the location, pointing out that it had been 25 years since the party last gathered in Sigatoka. He recalled, “We are meeting here in Sigatoka after 25 years. The last time we met here was at the nearby Cuvu College hall in 1999, right after a major political defeat. Yet, the NFP rose from the ashes, as it always has.” The AGM and Convention concluded yesterday.
