NFP Leadership Secured Amidst Reflective Milestone

The National Federation Party has successfully re-elected its office bearers without opposition during its Annual General Meeting (AGM) held today at the Nadroga Sangam School in Malaqereqere, Sigatoka.

Parmod Chand has been re-appointed as President, with Devendra Naidu, Kamala Lajendra, Ratu Esava Nabuta, Peter Saunivalu, Waisale Kanavu, and Vijay Rajnesh Prasad serving as Vice Presidents. Chandu Lodhia will remain as Treasurer, while Kamal Iyer continues in the role of General Secretary and Bimal Prasad serves as Assistant General Secretary.

Addressing a substantial audience, Chand expressed his appreciation for the ongoing support, emphasizing that the party’s resilience over the past 61 years illustrates its foundational principles and commitment to national interests.

“The longevity of the NFP, now 61 years old, reflects the party’s enduring values. We have never compromised our principles for short-term political gain. Our accomplishments are significant and will extend well into the future,” he stated.

Chand also highlighted the historic importance of the location, mentioning that it has been 25 years since the party last convened in Sigatoka.

“We are gathering here in Sigatoka again after 25 years. Our last meeting took place at the nearby Cuvu College hall in 1999, following a major political setback. Yet, the NFP has always risen from such challenges,” he remarked.

The Annual General Meeting and Convention concluded yesterday.
