The National Federation Party has re-elected its leaders without opposition during its Annual General Meeting held today at Nadroga Sangam School in Malaqereqere, Sigatoka. Parmod Chand will serve another term as President, accompanied by Vice Presidents Devendra Naidu, Kamala Lajendra, Ratu Esava Nabuta, Peter Saunivalu, Waisale Kanavu, and Vijay Rajnesh Prasad. Chandu Lodhia continues as Treasurer, with Kamal Iyer taking on the role of General Secretary and Bimal Prasad serving as Assistant General Secretary.
In his address to a large audience, Chand expressed appreciation for their ongoing support, emphasizing that the party’s longevity of 61 years reflects its foundational principles and commitment to the national interest.
“The fact that the NFP is 61 years old speaks volumes about the party’s values. We have never abandoned our principles for political expediency. Our achievements are monumental and will endure for decades,” Chand remarked.
He highlighted the historical context of the location, noting that it had been 25 years since the party convened in Sigatoka. “We are meeting here in Sigatoka after 25 years. The last time we met here was at the nearby Cuvu College hall in 1999, right after a major political defeat. Yet, the NFP has consistently risen from setbacks,” he stated.
The Annual General Meeting and Convention concluded yesterday.
