NFP Celebrates 61 Years with Unopposed Re-election of Leadership

The National Federation Party has re-elected its office bearers unanimously during its Annual General Meeting (AGM) held today at the Nadroga Sangam School in Malaqereqere, Sigatoka. Parmod Chand has been reappointed as President, with Devendra Naidu, Kamala Lajendra, Ratu Esava Nabuta, Peter Saunivalu, Waisale Kanavu, and Vijay Rajnesh Prasad serving as Vice Presidents. Chandu Lodhia will continue in the role of Treasurer, while Kamal Iyer remains the General Secretary and Bimal Prasad takes on the role of Assistant General Secretary.

In his address to a large audience, Chand expressed his appreciation for the ongoing support, emphasizing that the party’s resilience over the past 61 years reflects its dedication to principles that serve the national interest. “The longevity of the NFP, reaching 61 years, highlights the party’s core values. We have never compromised our principles for political gain. Our accomplishments are significant and will have lasting impacts for many years to come,” he stated.

Chand also highlighted the historical relevance of the location, noting that it has been 25 years since the party last convened in Sigatoka. He reminisced, “We are gathering here in Sigatoka for the first time in 25 years. Our last meeting was at the nearby Cuvu College hall in 1999, following a significant political defeat. Nevertheless, the NFP has always risen from its challenges.” The Annual General Meeting and Convention concluded yesterday.
