The National Federation Party has re-elected its leadership without opposition during its Annual General Meeting (AGM) today at the Nadroga Sangam School in Malaqereqere, Sigatoka. Parmod Chand has been re-elected as President, and he is joined by Vice Presidents Devendra Naidu, Kamala Lajendra, Ratu Esava Nabuta, Peter Saunivalu, Waisale Kanavu, and Vijay Rajnesh Prasad.
Chandu Lodhia continues in his role as Treasurer, with Kamal Iyer serving as General Secretary and Bimal Prasad as Assistant General Secretary. In his address to the gathered supporters, Chand expressed his appreciation for their ongoing support and highlighted that the party has endured for 61 years, reflecting its principles and commitment to national interests.
“The longevity of the NFP, now at 61 years, speaks volumes about our values. We have consistently upheld our principles and have not compromised them for political gain. Our achievements are significant and will last for generations,” Chand stated.
He also emphasized the historical importance of the location, noting it had been 25 years since the party last convened in Sigatoka. “We are back in Sigatoka after 25 years. The last meeting here was at Cuvu College hall in 1999, shortly after a substantial political setback. Yet, the NFP has always managed to bounce back,” he remarked.
The AGM and Convention concluded yesterday.
