Fiji’s Junior Vonu Under-17 full forward, Makayla Sukhu, is inspired by her mother, Vilisi Sukhu, a member of the inaugural women’s Fiji Vonu team in 2014, and aims to excel in the Australian Football League (AFL). Makayla expressed that her mother was a significant influence in her decision to take up the sport, as she has always held a passion for it.

She emphasized the importance of team bonding and endurance in AFL, noting that it incorporates various aspects of sports, making it a unique challenge. Makayla aspires to promote the sport further in Fiji and hopes to guide her sister in playing AFL as well.
