New Zealand’s ‘Made with Care’ Showcase Set for Fiji’s HOTEC Trade Show

New Zealand companies participating in the 2024 Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association’s HOTEC Trade Show later this week have been chosen for their dedication to delivering high-quality products and services in collaboration with Fijian suppliers. The four companies—Green Meadows Beef, Pals, Mercer Mushrooms, and the NZ Avocado collective, alongside Magic Memories—will present their products at the New Zealand “Made with Care” pavilion.

During a reception in Suva on Tuesday evening, in anticipation of the expo in Denarau, New Zealand Trade Commissioner to the Pacific David Dewar highlighted the companies’ commitment to partnering with Fiji’s tourism industry to ensure success. He praised Fiji’s tourism sector as world-class, noting its remarkable recovery from COVID-19, which has helped reposition the country as a premium destination for travelers from Australia, New Zealand, and beyond.

Dewar emphasized that visitors are attracted to Fiji primarily for its people, attributing the country’s tourism success to the hospitality provided through the famed “Bula” welcome and “loloma” throughout guests’ visits. He pointed out that upscale travelers are increasingly seeking high-quality offerings that enhance their experience.

“Our goal is to provide the finest products from New Zealand to collaborate with Fiji in delivering this caliber of service,” Dewar stated. He also mentioned that discussions with the hotel sector indicated that reliability in supply is crucial as the industry continues to expand.

The “Made With Care” campaign by New Zealand is founded on three core values: “Kaitiakitanga,” which focuses on caring for people, place, and planet; “Manaakitanga,” which stands for caring for others with kindness and respect; and “Ingenuity,” which encourages challenging conventional norms with innovative solutions. Dewar expressed pride in featuring four exceptional New Zealand companies at HOTEC that exemplify these principles.

New Zealand has been a staunch supporter of the event, with New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) serving as the gold sponsor for the two-day expo.
