New Zealand Backs Fiji’s Housing Initiative with $15 Million Funding

The Ministry of Housing has secured a $15 million funding package from New Zealand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. This financial support aims to enhance Technical Assistance, Strategic Planning, Institutional Strengthening, and the establishment of a National Housing Database over the next three years.

Minister for Housing Maciu Nalumisa highlighted that this initiative represents a major step towards fostering a stronger, safer, and more prosperous Fiji. He emphasized the significance of the partnership, stating that both the New Zealand Ministry and the Ministry of Housing are committed to building a robust institutional alliance that will bolster capacities and institutional strengths.

The funding will complement ongoing efforts to provide affordable housing for Fijians, extending until April 2029, with a strong focus on achieving sustainable development outcomes.
