New Zealand and Fiji: A Partnership for Quality Tourism Experiences

New Zealand companies participating in the upcoming 2024 Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association’s HOTEC Trade Show have been selected for their dedication to delivering high-quality products and services in collaboration with local Fijian providers.

The featured New Zealand companies—Green Meadows Beef, Pals, Mercer Mushrooms, the NZ Avocado collective, and Magic Memories—will present their products at the New Zealand pavilion themed “Made with Care.”

During a reception in Suva on Tuesday, New Zealand Trade Commissioner to the Pacific, David Dewar, emphasized the commitment of these companies to work alongside the Fijian industry to bolster the tourism sector.

Dewar praised Fiji’s tourism industry, stating, “Fiji’s tourism sector is absolutely world class,” highlighting its remarkable recovery from the COVID pandemic that has reestablished Fiji as a preferred destination for travelers from Australia, New Zealand, and beyond.

He noted that visitors are drawn to Fiji primarily for the warmth of its people. “The success is ultimately a testament to the efforts of everyone in this country responsible for offering tourists the renowned ‘Bula’ welcome and ‘loloma’ throughout their stay.”

Dewar mentioned that discerning travelers are increasingly seeking premium-quality products to complement their experiences. “Our goal is to ensure we deliver the best of New Zealand to partner with Fiji in achieving that.”

He also acknowledged the hotel’s industry’s focus on the reliability of supply as tourism continues to expand.

“Our ‘Made With Care’ campaign centers on three main values: ‘Kaitiakitanga’—caring for people, place, and planet for future generations; ‘Manaakitanga’—caring for others with kindness, generosity, support, and respect; and ‘Ingenuity’—challenging norms with innovative solutions.”

Dewar expressed pride in showcasing four exceptional New Zealand companies at HOTEC that embody these principles. New Zealand has notably supported the event, with New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) serving as the gold sponsor for the two-day expo.
