A 38-year-old unemployed man from Vidogo Settlement in Vatuwaqa is set to appear in the Suva Magistrate Court tomorrow, facing charges of murder. The incident, which allegedly took place on New Year’s Eve, involved the suspect and the victim, a 32-year-old manager, who were among a group of seven individuals at a drinking party.
According to reports, the situation escalated into a physical altercation early on New Year’s Day, at around 10:00 AM. During the confrontation, the suspect is accused of assaulting the victim, who subsequently fell unconscious. He was taken to CWM Hospital but unfortunately later succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators have gathered statements from six eyewitnesses present at the gathering, helping to piece together the events leading to the tragedy. The man has been charged under Section 312 of the Crimes Act of 2009.
