A 38-year-old man from Vidogo Settlement in Vatuwaqa is set to appear in Suva Magistrate Court tomorrow, facing charges of murder. The incident occurred on New Year’s Eve when the suspect allegedly engaged in a drinking party with the victim, a 32-year-old manager, along with six other individuals.
The confrontation escalated around 10:00 AM on New Year’s Day, resulting in a physical altercation in which the suspect assaulted the victim until he became unresponsive. The suspect then took the victim to CWM Hospital, but unfortunately, the victim later succumbed to his injuries.
Investigations into the case revealed crucial details from the six eyewitnesses present during the drinking party, aiding law enforcement in piecing together the events leading to the tragic incident. The accused has been charged with murder under Section 312 of the Crimes Act 2009.
He is expected to enter his plea in court tomorrow.
