The newborn weighed 2.85 kilograms, and despite the challenges during labor, Ms. Likucokocoko expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the midwives and medical staff for their support. “It was a surprise; we did not expect him until January 11, but I thank God for this healthy gift,” she stated, highlighting the joy her family feels at this unexpected arrival.
In Nadi, Akeneta Ranadi, 29, also welcomed a baby girl earlier than anticipated, as her due date was January 8. Weighing 3.78 kilograms, the new arrival marked a special moment for Ms. Ranadi, who noted, “It’s a blessing to give birth on New Year’s Day.” Living alone with her children while her partner works abroad, she sees this birth as a sign of prosperity and hopes for more blessings in the year ahead.
Further north, Senimili Duavokavoka from Kia Island experienced her own New Year miracle. After being admitted to Labasa Hospital on New Year’s Eve, she gave birth to a healthy son named Suliasi Vunibola Turaganivalu at 2 AM on January 1. Weighing 3.7 kilograms, she referred to her son as the perfect gift that completes her family. Her husband, Seresio Turaganivlau, shared in the pride of fatherhood during this joyful moment.
