The New Vision 21 volleyball team from Vatuwaqa is gearing up for a robust performance in the upcoming Suva Volleyball Association club competition. Established this year, the team emphasizes empowering the youth in their community and has been making steady strides under the leadership of head coach Matayasi Suka.
Suka noted that while many players are newcomers to the sport, their raw talent and commitment have been remarkable. The team recently secured victories in both of their matches, albeit by default due to their opponents not showing up. Regardless, the team’s enthusiasm for volleyball is unmistakable.
Motivated by a desire to provide a positive environment for young people and to help divert them from potential pitfalls such as drug abuse, Suka initiated the formation of the team. He expressed pride in the players’ progress, particularly given that this is many of them are experiencing volleyball for the first time.
“The talent I see is truly encouraging,” Suka stated. He acknowledged that competing against established teams presents its own set of challenges; however, the focus remains on continual improvement and development within the sport.
Suka also expressed appreciation to the Suva Volleyball Association for their support, which has been instrumental in fostering both the physical and mental growth of the players.
This positive initiative not only aims to elevate the team’s performance but also to inspire youth in the community to pursue sports as a pathway towards a healthier and more constructive lifestyle.
In summary, the New Vision 21 volleyball team is set to make its mark on the competition, embodying hope and dedication while also serving a greater purpose in guiding youth towards a brighter future.
