Vani Dianilawe Tobakarakarawa, a 20-year-old from Waciwaci, Lakeba in Lau, was crowned the new queen of the Vodafone Sugar Festival 2024 after a week filled with vibrant activities and a dedication to charitable causes. A law student at the University of Fiji, she expressed her gratitude for the significant achievement on Saturday night.
“Words are not enough to express how grateful I am,” Vani stated. She acknowledged the challenges she faced but credited her success to the wonderful support and guidance from many people, including her fellow contestants.
With support from Travel Consultant and Tours, Vani utilized her platform to urge religious organizations to take an active role in combating illicit drug use. She emphasized the importance of churches stepping beyond their conventional roles to provide nurturing environments for affected youth, offering them safe spaces and essential social support.
Chief guest and Vodafone’s Chief Financial Officer, Farheen Saheb, underscored the festival’s commitment to charity. “Charity for the needy is not just a theme for this festival; it serves as a reminder of our shared responsibility to help those less fortunate and strive for a more inclusive society,” Ms. Saheb remarked.
