The New Vision 21 volleyball team, based in Vatuwaqa, is gearing up to make an impressive impact in this year’s Suva Volleyball Association club competition. Newly established this year, the team is dedicated to empowering local youth and has shown promising progress under head coach Matayasi Suka’s leadership.

Coach Suka noted that while many players are experiencing volleyball for the first time, he has been struck by their enthusiasm and commitment to the game. Although New Vision 21 won both of their initial matches by default due to opponent no-shows, their dedication to volleyball remains apparent.

Suka’s drive to create the team stems from a desire to offer positive opportunities for young individuals in the community, aiming to draw them away from negative influences like drug abuse and guide them towards a more hopeful future. He expressed admiration for the players’ newfound skills and their potential for growth in the sport, commenting, “So far the team has done well; most of these boys are playing volleyball for the first time, and the talent I see is encouraging.”

He acknowledged that competing in the league has its challenges, especially against experienced teams, yet the team remains focused on continuous improvement and skill development. The coach also expressed appreciation to the Suva Volleyball Association for their support, which assists players in developing both physically and mentally.

In summary, the New Vision 21 volleyball team is not only competing in a sport but is also fostering personal growth among its members. Their commitment to providing a positive environment is a beacon of hope, suggesting that with determination and teamwork, these young athletes can achieve great things on and off the court.
