After H.E. Ratu Wiliam Katonivere’s withdrawal from the Presidential race, Prime Minister Rabuka has put forward the nomination of Honourable Speaker Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, the Turaga Bale na Tui Cakau.
Rabuka stated that he consulted the Parliamentary Caucus of The People’s Alliance, which has officially endorsed Ratu Naiqama for the presidential nomination.
He also confirmed that Ratu Naiqama has agreed to be nominated for the position.
“As Prime Minister, I will propose his name in accordance with section 84(2) of the Constitution during the special session of Parliament on Thursday, October 31, 2024,” Rabuka announced.
He urged all Fijians to come together with him and the Coalition Government to work towards unifying the nation, fostering social cohesion, peace, unity, stability, and prosperity.
