Prime Minister has nominated Honourable Speaker Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu Na Gone Turaga Bale na Tui Cakau for the presidency, following the withdrawal of H.E. Ratu Wiliam Katonivere from the nomination process.
Rabuka mentioned that he consulted with the Parliamentary Caucus of The People’s Alliance, which has formally endorsed Ratu Naiqama’s nomination. He also stated that the Turaga na Tui Cakau has agreed to be nominated for the presidency.
“As Prime Minister, I will present his name under section 84(2) of the Constitution during the special sitting of Parliament on Thursday, October 31, 2024,” Rabuka said.
He urged all Fijians to join him and the Coalition Government in their efforts to unite the nation and foster social cohesion, peace, unity, stability, and prosperity.
