New Police Commissioner Appointment AWAITED: What’s Next for Fiji?

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has indicated that the Constitutional Offices Commission (COC) is expected to meet after Parliament to make a decision regarding the appointment of a new Police Commissioner. Mr. Rabuka stated that he would consult with the Solicitor-General, who serves as the secretariat for the COC, before any meeting takes place.

The Prime Minister’s comments came in response to inquiries about whether the COC would hold a meeting this month. The application period for the Police Commissioner position was anticipated to close yesterday. He explained that once the advertisement period concludes, the Commission will review the applications thoroughly.

Mr. Rabuka emphasized that all submissions for the Police Commissioner role will undergo scrutiny by the COC. After the Commission verifies the selected candidates, the results will be made public.
