Newly appointed Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu has expressed his commitment to restoring the trust and confidence of the public in law enforcement. In an exclusive interview with The Fiji Times, Mr. Tudravu reflected on the significance of his appointment, acknowledging the numerous other qualified candidates he competed against. He emphasized that the selection feels divinely timed and expressed gratitude towards Acting Commissioner Juki Fong Chew and his fellow officers for their resilience during the transition period.

Mr. Tudravu, a seasoned officer himself, highlighted the importance of rebuilding both public trust and confidence within the police organization. He noted that officers have faced many challenges, which have impacted policing at various levels. His plan involves a focused approach to strengthen relationships both internally and with the community.

Acknowledging that rebuilding trust will take time, Mr. Tudravu assured the Fijian public of his dedication to making every effort to regain their confidence in the police force. He will officially take over as Commissioner of Police on February 3, 2025.
