The Cabinet has given the green light for new fees and charges associated with market stall rentals at the recently opened Nakasi Market, as announced during a cabinet meeting held in Suva. This development follows the approval of updated fees for market stalls in other locations, including Levuka, Rakiraki, and Tavua, last September.
In tandem with the approval of market stall fees, the Cabinet also greenlit adjustments to Public Service Vehicle (PSV) base fees, user-pay facilities, and garbage collection services specifically for Rakiraki and Tavua. These updates aim to enhance operational efficiency and improve services for the communities involved.
The changes will take effect once they are formally published in the gazette, marking a significant step in revamping the local market environments and public service offerings.
This initiative can be seen as a positive move towards better resource management and enhanced service delivery for residents, fostering a more vibrant community business environment. It’s an encouraging development that reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to support local economies and improve public amenities.
