New Market and Bus Terminal on the Horizon for Seaqaqa!

Plans are in motion for a new market and bus terminal in Seaqaqa, as announced by Samuela Ligairi, the special administrator of the Labasa Town Council. Ligairi mentioned that he has seen the architectural designs for the proposed developments, which are anticipated to benefit many individuals.

“I cannot disclose further details,” he stated.

Vendor Losalini Raua expressed that there has been a demand for a new market in the upcoming financial year. She noted that the current market has not been renovated for years, despite repeated appeals to previous governments.

“The market is now in a state of disrepair and is ill-equipped to manage even slight weather changes,” she commented.

Raua highlighted that a significant concern is the leaking roofs that let rain in during heavy storms, damaging goods and making business operations challenging. Currently, some sections of the market have temporary repairs with tarpaulins, while other roofs are completely missing.
