New Learning Centre in Fiji Aims to Elevate Education Standards

The Foundation for the Education of Needy Children (FENC) has officially launched its new learning center at the Tovata Methodist Church in Fiji. Nirmala Nambiar, FENC Fiji’s head of operations, announced the center’s opening on Tuesday, highlighting that the project had initially begun several years prior but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nambiar expressed excitement about the collaboration with the Tovata Methodist Church to introduce a modern learning facility aimed at creating a drug-free environment in Fiji, a vision supported by community leaders, the government, and civil society.

The center is set to assist local children in their preparation for external assessments and final examinations. Initially, it will focus on students in Year 12 and 13, with plans to eventually extend support to younger students. The goal is to improve pass rates in schools, marking the launch as a significant step forward in educational support for the community.

Although the learning center will open in its current state, plans for a comprehensive renovation are scheduled for November. Nambiar expressed gratitude to the Methodist Church and its leadership for their ongoing support.

FENC Fiji remains committed to helping disadvantaged children enhance their educational opportunities and achieve success in their communities.
